Dental drama is the last thing anyone wants over the holidays, but in case you find yourself in urgent need of a dentist…we can help!
First thing’s first, you should take note of our holiday hours:
We are open to attend to your dental emergencies over the Christmas Break during the hours of 8:30am-1pm and 2pm-5:30pm. We’ll be open for these hours from the 28th of December until the 30th, and then again on the 4th of January until the 6th.
While we hope that you have a safe and happy break, we also know that accidents happen. That’s part of life!
Sometimes we bite down on that candy cane too hard, sometimes someone misses a tiny bone in the Christmas roast, and sometimes we take an unexpected knock to the jaw in all the holiday shenanigans. Whatever the case, if your teeth end up taking on the damage then your Lower Hutt dentist has got your back (and your back-up plan).
There’s no need to panic!
If the unexpected does happen then there’s a way to react that could determine the outcome of your damaged tooth or teeth, and it all starts with staying calm.
When it comes to dental accidents and injury you generally aren’t in any great health-related danger. Although they may be painful they are rarely a matter of life and death! Try to look on the bright side if you happen to find yourself in a dental injury situation these holidays.
How to react
As we mentioned before, start by staying calm.
If you’ve had an injury or fall and your teeth have taken damage, then you can expect either chips or cracks from your teeth and – in extreme cases – a missing tooth or two, depending on how bad the incident was. The speed at which you act upon the injury will alter the course of the outcome. Leave your damaged tooth with a ‘she’ll be right’ attitude and you could find yourself regretting your life choices.
Be on the safe side these holidays and maintain a sense of urgency. If anything happens then contact your dentist immediately for advice. Sometimes emergency action taken right away can mean the difference between saving or losing a tooth. In some cases an injury can be fairly superficial. Most things are easy to fix and inexpensive – as long as you get them seen to early!
As with all dental emergencies, matters are made worse with delay…and generally more expensive, too.
Fear not this festive season because the team at Switch Dental are here to help you stay safe, happy and healthy this Christmas and New Year! We get that nobody wants to go to the dentist – least of all over the Christmas holidays – so that’s why we place huge importance upon our friendly, people-focussed attitude. We’ll make you feel right at home should anything major happen from now until next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the team at Switch!
