If a crown or bridge has come loose, don’t panic — and don’t glue it back on. At Switch Dental, we deal with this all the time. In many cases, we can clean it up and reattach it securely on the same day. If something more serious is going on underneath, we’ll talk you through it and get you sorted.

- Rinse the crown or bridge gently in water
- Don’t try to stick it back on
- Avoid chewing on that side
- Keep it in a small container or bag
- Contact us as soon as possible
We’ll check:
- Why it came off
- Whether the tooth underneath is still healthy
- If it can be re-used or if we need a new one
We often clean the tooth and crown with sandblasting or air abrasion, which gives a much stronger bond. We’ll also check for:
- Hidden decay or cracks
- Grinding/clenching damage
- Poor original fit or cement
If everything looks okay, we’ll reattach it. If not, we’ll explain your options clearly and work out the best next step together.
Crowns can fall off for innocent reasons — like old cement or sticky food. But sometimes it’s a sign that:
- There’s decay underneath
- The crown never quite fit right
- The tooth is cracked or weakened
- You’re grinding your teeth at night
