Accidents happen — whether it’s a sports knock, a playground tumble, or an over-enthusiastic dog greeting. Dental injuries can look small on the outside but cause significant damage underneath, so getting seen quickly is key to saving teeth and preventing bigger problems down the track.
At Switch Dental, both Dr Alex Lee and Dr Laura Bridger trained in hospital settings, meaning we’re no strangers to managing complex dental trauma — from knocked-out teeth to facial injuries. This advanced surgical background means we can act quickly, calmly, and with the right tools to give your tooth its best shot at survival.

We treat all types of dental accidents, including:
- Knocked-out teeth (avulsion): Time is everything. Get to us within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth.
- Teeth moved out of position (luxation): Quick repositioning and splinting can keep the nerve alive.
- Broken or chipped teeth: Can range from minor enamel chips to deep fractures involving the nerve.
- Jaw or bone fractures: We’ll assess, stabilise, and coordinate hospital or surgical care if needed.
- Soft tissue injuries: Cuts to lips, tongue, or gums — we can clean, suture, and help prevent infection.
- Damage to existing dental work: Crowns, fillings, or bridges broken in an accident can often be repaired or replaced on the spot.
At Switch Dental, we prioritise your comfort and safety during any tooth extraction procedure. Our dentists are experienced in performing extractions gently and efficiently.
- Knocked-out tooth? Hold it by the crown (not the root), gently rinse if dirty, and try to reinsert. If that’s not possible, store it in milk or your own saliva.
- Bleeding? Apply firm pressure with a clean cloth or gauze.
- Pain or swelling? Use a cold pack on the outside of your face.
Then — call us immediately on 04 569 6808. We do our best to see trauma cases the same day.
If your injury was caused by an accident — even years ago — you may be eligible for ACC cover. We handle the claim process for you, from lodging the form to getting treatment approvals, so you can focus on recovery. ACC can contribute significantly to treatment costs, and we’ll let you know exactly what’s covered before starting.
